Odoo Sales: Features and Applications

Odoo Sales

Sales is the backbone of every company and its activities ensure sales, new customers and the care of existing customers. In today’s digital world, the most important tools such as customer management, quotation generation, price calculations, incoming payments, etc. are usually mapped in an ERP system. This is also applies for Odoo ERP.
Odoo is an open source ERP developed by the Belgian company Odoo S.A.. It covers various business areas, including sales, purchasing, warehouse management, production, accounting, human resources and much more. What makes Odoo special is that it offers a comprehensive suite of applications that are aligned and can be seamlessly integrated to create a complete ERP system. One of these applications is the Odoo Sales module, which we would like to present in more detail in this article.

The following features are included in Odoo Sales:

  1. Customer managementIn the sales module, the contact module is integrated, which contains the classic functionalities of a CRM system. This includes managing customer data, including extensive contact details, sales, customer history, payment terms per customer, and customer-specific notes.
  2. Product management
In Odoo, products can be managed via Odoo Sales as well as via the purchasing module, the warehouse module and the manufacturing module. Three different types of products can be created – storable products, consumables and services. It is also possible to specify product variants, prices, costs as well as purchase prices, stock levels, taxes and much more information at item level.
  3. Pricing
Odoo Sales supports flexible pricing that includes discounts, special offers, tiered pricing, and customized pricing and price lists. In addition, there is the possibility of selling vouchers or introducing loyalty cards or bonus programs for customers.
  4. Offer and order preparation
One of the most important features for sales is the creation of quotations and sales contracts. In Odoo Sales, both quotations and sales orders resulting from a quotation can be created. Quotes can be made available to customers online via external access and approved and signed directly online if required. From a final order, an invoice can be created and a delivery order can be executed.
  5. Shipping and delivery
Once a quote is confirmed and an order is created from the quote, a delivery order is automatically created from the order. The delivery order, in turn, enables the management of delivery information (e.g. different delivery address), shipping methods and delivery status. It is also possible to migrate different shipping service providers into Odoo and thus ensure the tracking of delivery orders.
  6. Invoicing
Invoices can be generated in Odoo Sales directly after order creation. If the accounting module (also called “Finance”) is used in addition, a seamless accounting system can be set up.
  7. Reporting and Analysis
The evaluation of sales and turnover figures is crucial for successful sales. This is where Odoo Sales offers the ability to create comprehensive reports and analytics to monitor and analyze revenue and sales performance.
  8. Sales Team
It is possible in Odoo to maintain different sales teams with associated responsible persons. For example, customers can be assigned to a single salesperson or even to a sales team.

Odoo Sales offers all the necessary functionalities for making sales successful. Since Odoo is modular, companies can also customize the functionalities to meet their individual requirements. By combining various modules, such as sales, purchasing, warehouse management, accounting and much more, a comprehensive enterprise resource planning (ERP) system can be created.
